Security services in Assuit cut off power in the street where the headquarters of the MB candidate, Mahmoud Helmy, is located to prevent the women’s conference from being held. The conference aims at raising awareness of the roles of women’s participation in political life.
Women supporters gathered under candle light to attend the conference with Wafaa Mashhour, MB candidate for the women’s seat in Assiut. She highlighted the role of women in political participation, calling for their rights.
MP, Mahmoud Helmy, also stressed the importance of choosing a representative in parliament, urging women to participate and prevent the wills of residents of the constituency from being thwarted.
He commented on security forces cutting power in the street saying that these are reprehensible and irresponsible actions that would only increase the anger of people leading to undesired results.

نساء أسيوط يلتقين مرشحة الإخوان على ضوء الشموع
قامت أجهزة أمن الدولة بمحافظة أسيوط بفصل التيار الكهربائي عن منطقة شارع مخزن الدقيق، التي يقع فيها مقر النائب محمود حلمي عضو الكتلة البرلمانية للإخوان المسلمين ونائب دائرة (القوصية)، لمنع المؤتمر النسائي الذي أقامه النائب؛ لتوعية المرأة بدورها في المشاركة في الحياة السياسية.
نساء الدائرة أصررن على حضور المؤتمر تحت أضواء الشموع؛ حيث احتشدت مئات النساء في المؤتمر الذي شاركت فيه وفاء مشهور مرشحة الإخوان المسلمين عن "كوتة المرأة" "فئات" بالمحافظة، والتي أكَّدت في كلمتها أهمية مشاركة المرأة في العمل السياسي، والمطالبة بحقوقهن، وتمثيلهن العادل في المجالس النيابية.
وفي كلمته، أكد النائب حلمي أهمية مشاركة المرأة في اختيار من يمثلونهن في المجلس، وحث النساء والفتيات على المشاركة؛ للضغط على المزوِّرين لمنعهم من تزوير إرادة أهالي الدائرة
